STAY COOL
INARI
2024

The sixth Stay Cool has officially started in Vasatokka Inari!
Janita Rantanen guided us to the shoreline of Lake Muddus where we asked for a permission to dance on this land. After reaching for the beautiful connection with nature we continued to dance from the directions of flowing water, being absorbed to the ground and growing tall again.

The Chairperson of Arctic Dance Network Riikka Kosola begun the day with the post pandemic discussions. She introduced us to a mandala practice that is inspired by the french choreographer Catherine *Contourns hypnosis method. We open the senses towards our inner subconscious space. The route there went through breathing and drawing wich made it possible for us to get grounded with our own space of beeing.
We discussed also on the topic of recurring crisissis and how those can bring a darker tone to our present life and of the fact that choosing to come together we create the hopeful tone of our interaction.

After lunch we headed for the big dance space. Nina Bulgakova is one of our lovely participants of Stay Cool Inari, She had prepared for us the movement class of saturday afternoon. With Nina we went from breathing to shaking to groups that met at crossings before coming together as one big organism. Nina’s class took us to warmth and movement recearch with our partners, we spent time with magnetic connections to each others bodies and the joy of turns and circular movement. How lovely to have an encouraging and dynamic start to the afternoon, thank you Nina!

After the dance class we took a distant connection to Tromssa Norway where fnnddans was hosting their yearly spring gathering for north norwegian dancers.

Our final facilitator of the day is our lovely member Pirjo Yli-Maunula
Pirjo’s topic is dreaming and how we can build collaboration. She begun by covering examples of successful collaboration in the north and after that we started to work on our own dreams. By the end of the sessions we had teamed up in groups and were already in the concrete fazes of making the dreams happen.

Our morning class was held by Riikka Kosola, Riikka’s practice is called Luuliike and we begun with moving our bones by sensing the softer potential that surrounds them. From the sensation of hard bones we suggested a softer form to our bodies and we let that quide the movement. Our bodies surrounded by liquid were joint by the shared journey in the space. How lovely it was to connect deeply within and with each other this morning, thank you Riikka!
We were so happy to have Alexandra Krements (Curator, producer, GullBakken (Norway))facilitate a session where we were sketching movement.
We could draw for an example what we see or what sense that could be happening next. Our hand intuitively traced the movement and we shared three beautiful sessions of sketching.

Our last part of the Stay cool Inari -event is a future related session facilitated by Alexandra Krements. We approached the future through a collaborative curation process. After the process we ended up with two very good projects and can’t wait to make them come true together!
